Global Survey on the Impact of COVID-19 on Urological Services a success

Hello everyone.

We want to announce that the global survey about the impact of COVID-19 in urological practice was a success.

This was a cross-sectional, web-based survey with 55 items conducted from 30th March 2020 to 7th April 2020 and together with your support, we were able to gather more than 1,000 responses from Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Australia/New Zealand.

The results will be published soon, but this survey has helped us to confirm that the urological activity has been heavily affected worldwide, many oncological and benign diseases remain untreated due to healthcare systems being collapsed and activity remains low even in countries where their facilities are not full, as a measure of caution.

Another finding is that personal protective equipment is lacking throughout the world, all countries struggle to give appropriate equipment to their personnel which would be expected when a sudden surge of demand empties world-stocks and the manufacturing capacity is limited. A good example of this is the website created by multiple American scientists showing how to decontaminate N95 masks. ( https://www.n95decon.org/ )

Finally, we would like to thank everyone for helping to answer and disseminate the survey and to remind you that UroSoMe is an open international platform able to help and support projects from everywhere in the world.
